Equipment and Ski Rentals

We have a wide selection of brand new G3 and K2 telemark and alpine touring skis and skins for rent at the lodge.  Boots can be rented in Golden, please e-mail us for shop addresses.  We also have safety equipment for rent, this will come with a demonstration and practice before you get out on the slopes! Please contact our office for more details, or to check availability and reserve for your trip today

Glacier Tours

Many of the day tours based at Mistaya Lodge will involve spectacular, moderate to advanced trips on several of the nearby glaciers in Wildcat Basin.  Put your skins on at the beginning of the day and glide right back to the lodge at the end!

As an option to flying out on departure day, we offer the opportunity to ski out with our guide over the Continental Divide and across the Wapta Icefields to Bow Lake on the Banff-Jasper Highway.

This strenuous 24km, single day traverse is a classic which involves a 3400 foot gain in elevation and generally requires 8 to 10 hours to complete. It is recommended for fit, strong intermediate skiers and is very much dependent on obtaining good weather and travel conditions. For this reason, we only attempt the traverse on the day prior to the scheduled helicopter departure. This allows us the option of returning to the Lodge if conditions on the Wapta Icefield are unsuitable.

During your stay at the Lodge we will be able to discuss travel conditions and assess people's abilities to safely do the traverse. In either case, the logistics and transportation back to Golden are provided by Mistaya as part of your package. However, we do not provide meals and accommodation in Golden after the traverse is completed. Click here for links to accommodation in Golden.

The Fine Print

Waiver of Liability New!

All guests skiing, snowboarding, hiking and mountaineering with Mistaya Lodge are required to sign a Release of Liability, Waiver of Claims and Assumption of Risk Agreement.   Click here for a copy of the waiver.

The Release of Liability and Waiver of Claims Agreement must be signed, and witnessed by one of our employees, prior to leaving the staging location. By signing this document, you will waive certain legal rights including the right to sue should you become involved in an accident. We request that you carefully read the Release Agreement, fill in the helpful information, and return it to our office before arriving in Golden. If you have any questions regarding the Release Agreement, please feel free to phone our office in Golden at (250) 344-6689.

Group Bookings

We appreciate the great amount of time and effort required to organize and book a group. Therefore, when we can deal with a single person who accepts responsibility for all aspects of booking 13-14 people, we are happy to provide that person with free accommodation, meals, guiding and helicopter flights.  The organizer makes all the group arrangements, ensures everyone receives packing lists and waivers, and collects payments and waivers to meet our booking conditions.

If a group wishes to book the lodge solely for themselves, they must pay for a minimum of 12 fully paid spaces.

Deposits and Payments

All reservations must be accompanied by a deposit equal to 50% of the package price. Full payment is due 8 weeks prior to the departure date. In the event that payment becomes overdue Mistaya Alpine Tours reserves the right to cancel your reservation and resell the space. Payments can be made by Cheque, Visa or MasterCard.

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations must be in writing. When cancellations are received 2 months prior to your departure date, deposits will be returned less a $250.00 per person handling fee.

For cancellations received less than 2 months prior to departure, all monies will be forfeited unless the space can be resold. If the space is resold, your money will be refunded less the $250.00 per person handling fee.

NOTE: We strongly recommend that you purchase cancellation and travel insurance through your local travel agent. If you have difficulty we can purchase this for you.

Evacuation & Medical Insurance

In the event that evacuation is necessary, payment of helicopter costs will be the responsibility of the guest. We recommend that you review your coverage and consider purchasing hospitalization and ambulance transportation insurance for your trip. This coverage is available through Travel Agencies. Under normal conditions the cost of the helicopter flight alone is $1200.00 CDN.

Accommodation & Activities in Golden:

Since we meet for the helicopter at 8:45 am, most guests prefer to stay in Golden the night prior to departure. Links to accommodation and activity providers can be found by clicking here. All costs and reservations for accommodation and activities prior to and after your stay at Mistaya Lodge are your responsibility. If you need further assistance, please contact Cindy at our office.

Children:

We welcome children at the lodge with an exclusive lodge booking!

Unfortunately we are unable to offer lodging to children under 14 years of age if the booking is not exclusive due to the small size of the Lodge and the expectations of most of our guests.  We require parents to accompany young adults under the legal age of 19 years and to accept in writing full responsibility for them during the trip.

Smoking is not allowed in the Lodge. Please leave pets at home.

Mistaya Lodge Ltd. reserves the right to cancel any or part of a tour. If we do, all payments will be refunded in full. Payment in part or in full is taken as agreement of the above terms.
