David Birnie and Cindy Galligan would like
to invite you to come and join them at their home away from home,
Mistaya Lodge.
They purchased Mistaya in 2003 from their
friends Ron Blaue and Jane Girvan and since then have tried to uphold and
improve on the past owners successful ways.
Dave is a fully certified
ACMG ski guide; he has worked at many of the Backcountry and Heli ski operations
in the area and also for Alpine Guides in New Zealand for a number of winter
seasons. Growing up in the valley, he has skied and hiked a lot in the area and
is proud to be able to guide in this amazing pocket of glaciated terrain.
Dave has been with Mistaya from the beginning in 1988, helping out when needed,
from pounding nails to making trails and finding all
those ski lines. He is happy to pass this knowledge on
to our staff, guests and friends.
Cindy grew up skiing and hiking in
Golden and when she met Dave he opened the backcountry
world to her. With her first trip to Mistaya, she was hooked.
It was not a hard decision to quit her job as a
Respiratory Therapist in Calgary and move back to
Golden. When she is not up at the lodge Cindy handles the office duties in
Golden and sees that everyone gets on and off of the helicopters safely at the
start and end of everyone’s vacation.

would like to introduce Leah her baby sister born September 22, 2008. Both
girls have had there fair share of skiing already. Sara was playing in the
powder this winter on her new teddy bear skis. Leah is ready to get out
and try a few flowers Mmm.
